Anamoe’s (Street Boss) reputation continues to grow as he is named Champion Three-Year-Old of last season at the NSW Racehorse Owners’ Association Night Of Champions Awards in Sydney.
Just days after becoming one of the only horses to win G1 races at ages two, three and four, Anamoe was announced champion in front of a packed crowd at the Royal Randwick Ballroom.
Winner of the G1 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes for two-year-olds in April 2021 before claiming the stallion-making G1 Caulfield Guineas six months later, the son of Street Boss blitzed his G1 Rosehill Guineas three-year-old rivals in March this year by 6.75 lengths.
The four-year-old colt then returned from a spell to score a brilliant first-up win in the G1 Winx Stakes (1,400m) at Randwick just prior to receiving his latest accolade.
Head trainer James Cummings was delighted with the award and the horse’s return to racing after many had questioned Godolphin’s desire to continue racing a valuable young stallion.
“When we were deciding amongst ourselves whether he’d be training on as a four-year-old, he had all the hallmarks of a horse who would be training on very strongly at an elder age,” Cummings said.
“He’s a bit more mature this time and we just took our time to get him to the races first-up and it paid off.
“I think we’ve got him right where we want him and you would have to think he’s just about the horse to beat in just about anything he runs in next start.”
“We are going to run the horse in the George Main Stakes (17 September) next start, but beyond that we haven’t locked in any specific race,” Cummings said.
“With all the options we’ve got in the spring, we haven’t been declaring we’ll run in one race or another just yet.
“We’ll focus on the George Main next because it’s the appropriate target for the horse.”
Anamoe’s record now stands at eight wins, all at Stakes level, and seven placings from 17 starts for prize money earnings of $5,270,275.
