New Stakes winner for Desert Party
Desert Party added another Stakes winner to his record February 22 when three-year-old daughter Rousanne took the Island Fashion Stakes at Sunland Park. An impressive debut winner at Churchill Downs last year as a two-year-old, the filly has won or placed in three Stakes races to date in her young career.
In the one-mile race Rousanne traveled two lengths off the pace along the backstretch. Going three-wide around the turn, the filly descended on the lead, and fought hard down the stretch to earn the win.
Bred in Kentucky by Dr. and Mrs. Stuart E. Brown II, Rousanne is out of the mare Auntie Soph who was also victorious at Churchill in allowance company and whose two other foals to race are also winners.
Other Stakes winners for Desert Party include Heart's Song, a winner of the Miss Indiana Stakes and third in the G2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill, and New Westminster Handicap winner Party Pooper. The sire has also been represented by impressive Saratoga debut winner and G3-placed Can't Happen Here.
Desert Party stands for $7,500 live foal, stands and nurses at Sequel Stallions, New York.
