Heart’s Song finds a good rhythm in Indiana
Coming off a nice allowance win at Churchill Downs one month ago, Desert Party’s Heart’s Song passed all but one to win her second career Stakes, the Ellen’s Lucky Grand at Indiana Downs on July 15th. She captured her first added-money win over the same oval last fall in the City Of Anderson Stakes.
Never one to be near the lead during the early stages of her races, Heart’s Song was fifth nearly eight lengths off the lead as the field passed the half-mile pole. She was then given her cue to go after the leaders and only had the leader to catch once the field straightened for home. Nearing the wire, the three-year-old filly passed the leader and drew off for a two and one-quarter length win.
Out of the Cryptoclearance mare Secret Psalm, herself a full-sister to multiple G1 winner Strategic Maneuver, Heart's Song is a half-sister to G2 winner Delosvientos, Stakes-placed Temple Yard, as well as the dam of Stakes winner Stole One. She was bred in Kentucky by Justice Farm & Greg Justice.
Heart’s Song, also G2-placed, is one of four Stakes winners from Desert Party’s first crop. He’s also the sire of G3 winner Salama, Canadian Stakes winner Party Pooper as well as the Graded-placed colt Can’t Happen Here.
