Sweet victory for On The Backstreets
You could say three-year-old filly On The Backstreets was actually on the "front streets" February 15 rolling to victory in the Sweet Life Stakes at Santa Anita. She is now two-for-two on the turf.
Sent off as the 9-5 favorite, the Street Boss filly was comfortable in second, two-lengths off the pace. Turning for home On The Backstreets took aim for the lead, before kicking away in the stretch for a clear score in the six-and-one-half-furlong race.
Bred by Justice Farm & Greg Justice, On The Backstreets was a $105,000 two-year-old purchase. She is the first foal for Mutakaway, by Mutakddim, who is out of a half-sister to Graded Stakes winner Jet Stream.
Representing his second crop of runners, On The Backstreets is the newest Stakes winner for Street Boss. Other standout performers for the sire include G1 King's Bishop winner Capo Bastone and multiple Stakes winner Street Gem, among others from his first crop.
Street Boss currently stands for $10,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
