Rapper Dragon rallied from just off the pace to win the Listed Lion Rock Trophy at Sha Tin Race Course May 29.
Settled in fifth through the early stages of the eight-furlong turf contest, the three-year-old gelded son of Street Boss overtook the leaders in mid-stretch and drew off for an impressive length-and-a-quarter victory.
Bred in Australia by Mr. E. Cojuangco, Rapper Dragon is out of Swing Dance, by Danehill Dancer. Swing Dance is a full-sister to the Stakes-winning Turf Express, and a half-sister to Amanpour, winner of the G1 Queen of the Turf Stakes.
Rapper Dragon is one of 23 Stakes winners for his sire Street Boss, which are led by the brilliant three-year-old filly Cathryn Sophia, winner of the 2016 G1 Kentucky Oaks. In addition, Street Boss has sired the G1 winners Capo Bastone, Danza, and The Quarterback.
Street Boss is standing the 2016 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $12,500, stands and nurses.
