Cathryn Sophia made her Graded Stakes debut a winning one with an impressive five-and-a-half-length victory in the G2 Forward Gal at Gulfstream Park.
Patiently handled by Joel Rosario, the daughter of Street Boss was full of run but stuck behind a wall of horses on the far turn. Swung wide as the field entered the stretch, Cathryn Sophia quickly took command and pulled away, crossing the wire an easy winner under a hand ride. The talented filly remains undefeated, and has won her three career starts by a combined thirty-three-and-three-quarter-lengths.
Bred in Maryland by Robert T. Manfuso, Cathryn Sophia is out of Sheave, an unraced daughter of Horse of the Year Mineshaft. Sheave is out of G2 Golden Rod Stakes winner Belterra, and is a half-sister to Stakes winner Taketheodds (by Street Sense).
Cathryn Sophia is one of 21 Stakes winners for Street Boss, among them Capo Bastone, winner of the G1 King's Bishop Stakes, and G1 Arkansas Derby winner, Danza.
Street Boss will stand the 2016 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $12,500 live foal, stands and nurses.
