Impressive youngster El Padrino continued a sensational season for his sire Street Boss (USA) and made amends for an unlucky second on debut when he won the Restricted Listed Inglis Nursery on Saturday, 11 December at Royal Randwick in Sydney.
Bogged down on very heavy track when just beaten at Cranbourne four weeks earlier, El Padrino - out of the Australian mare Misty Rock - overcame a wide run for jockey Jason Collett to wear down Calgary Stampede and Athletica in the $400,000 scamper over 1,000m.
The chestnut colt was purchased by Ciaron Maher Racing at the 2021 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale for $210,000 and looks to have a sparkling future.
El Padrino became the 56th Stakes winner for Street Boss worldwide and the stallion’s 41st winner this season - headed in Australia by dual G1 winner Anamoe and West Australian sprint star Elite Street.
Street Boss will stand the 2022 breeding season at Jonabell Farm in Kentucky for $15,000, stands and nurses.
