Immersive aced her first two-turn test with flying colors when she charged from just off the pace to win the G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes by one-and-a-quarter lengths at Keeneland on Friday, 4 October.
The two-year-old Nyquist filly remains perfect in three starts and is now a two-time G1 winner, having captured the G1 Spinaway at Saratoga last time out. The victory earned the filly a fees-paid berth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar in November, as the race is part of the ‘Win and You’re In’ series sponsored by the Breeders’ Cup.
A small but select field of seven went to the post in the Alcibiades, with Immersive facing a couple of familiar rivals such as Quietside and Sherbini, who had completed the placings behind her in the Spinaway. Breaking sharply from the outside gate, Immersive stalked the pace from third under jockey Manny Franco as Rich City Girl and Liam in the Dust battled it out on the front end.
Immersive began to close in on the frontrunners on the far turn, then took over at the top of the stretch and drew off for the win. Quickick overhauled Quietside to earn the runner-up spot.
Racing as a homebred for Godolphin, Immersive is out of Gap Year, a winning daughter of former Darley stalwart, Bernardini. Gap Year is a daughter of the multiple Graded Stakes winner, Dubai Escapade, winner of the G1 Ballerina, G2 Vinery Madison Stakes and G2 Vagrancy. The family also includes G1 winner Madcap Escapade, dam of fellow G1 winner, Mi Sueno.
Nyquist having an outstanding year and has been represented by four G1 winners so far. In addition to Immersive, the stallion is also the sire of Johannes, undefeated in four Graded Stakes in 2024 including the G1 Shoemaker Mile; Randomized, winner of the G1 Ogden Phipps and Tenma, the leading juvenile filly in California and winner of the G1 Del Mar Debutante.
