Racing without blinkers may have been the key to success for the three-year-old filly, Visually, who defied her long odds when rallying to take the G3 Senorita Stakes by a length at Santa Anita on Sunday, 5 May.
Visually becomes the first Graded Stakes winner for her sire, Enticed, whose first crop are three-year-olds this season.
Racing near the rear of the field through the opening stages of the race, Visually swung wide entering the stretch and took aim at longtime leader, Girl of My Dreams. She reeled in that rival in mid-stretch, then gradually pulled away, and easily held off the late-running Rascality for the win.
Bred in Kentucky by ThoroughBred by Design LLC, Visually is out of the winning Candy Ride mare, Eye Candy Annie. Second dam Annie’s Apple (Shawklit Won) was a multiple Stakes winner, and the immediate family also boasts G1 Clement L. Hirsch winner, Lady of Fifty, in addition to Stakes winners Nakatomi, Bella Conchita and Lady Fifty Two.
Enticed, who is represented by his first three-year-olds this year, was the leading Kentucky freshman sire by winners to runners (44%) in 2023. A top eight freshman sire by earnings last year, Enticed has been represented by Tempted Stakes winner and G2 Demoiselle runner-up, Shimmering Allure, and by G3-placed Tambo.
Enticed is standing the 2024 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $5,000, stands and nurses.
