Shimmering Allure charged from off the pace and overtook longtime leader Barbsdreamcometrue in the stretch to win the eight-furlong Panthers Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Saturday, 8 June.
The victory at Prairie Meadows was the second Stakes win for the three-year-old daughter of Enticed; she captured the Listed Tempted Stakes as a juvenile last fall at Aqueduct.
Shimmering Allure broke alertly and was allowed to settle off the pace in third early as Barbsdreamcometrue went to the lead. Shimmering Allure continued to stalk the leader from third down the backstretch, before moving up to challenge at the quarter pole. Shimmering Allure vied for the lead with Barbsdreamcometrue for several strides before shaking loose and pulling away, eventually crossing the wire to win by one-and-three-quarters of a length.
Shimmering Allure was bred in Kentucky by Clifton Farm and is out of the Stakes-placed Wild Again mare, Shimmering Tale. Shimmering Allure is a half-sister to the Stakes-placed winners, Shimmering Dream, My Daughter’s Song and Colonel Ted.
Enticed, who is represented by his first three-year-olds this year, was the leading Kentucky freshman sire by winners to runners (44%) in 2023. A top eight freshman sire by earnings last year, Enticed is also represented by G3 Senorita Stakes winner Visually and by G3-placed Tambo.
