Facundo H overhauled Roheryn with less than a furlong to run and drew off to post a three-length victory in the G3 Primavera Hernan Braun P. Carolina Budge De B. at Club Hipico on Friday, 24 Nov.
It was the eighth straight victory for the six-year-old horse by Midshipman, and his second consecutive Graded Stakes win, following his win in the G2 Clasico Copa de Oro in October.
Confidently ridden by Jorge Gonzalez, Facundo H was hustled out of the starting and quickly opened a two-length lead on his rivals. Gonzalez then took the handsome grey off the pace, content to let rival Roheryn take the lead and set the pace. Facundo H continued to stalk Roheryn throughout most of the ten-furlong contest before overhauling him in deep stretch and pulling away late to earn the victory.
Facundo H races as a homebred for Haras Don Alberto and is out of the unraced mare, Fratellina. In addition to Facundo H, Fratellina is the dam of the three-year-old Flyng Hearts (Constitution), winner of four of five starts in Chile including the G3 Paddock Stakes Jaime Allende, and of Farreras, dam of Chilean Champion two-year-old colt and Chilean Triple Crown winner, Fortino (also by Midshipman).
In addition to Facundo H, Midshipman is also represented by six-time Stakes winner Back to Ohio and the talented juvenile Stakes winners Amidst Waves and Ship Cadet.
Midshipman will stand the 2024 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $15,000, stands and nurses.
