Shimmering Allure came with a powerful rally down the center of the course to win the Listed Tempted Stakes by three lengths at Aqueduct on Sunday, 5 November.
With the win, the two-year-old dark bay filly became the first Stakes winner for her freshman sire, Enticed.
Shimmering Allure entered the Tempted Stakes off a sharp fourth-place finish in the G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland. Patiently handled by jockey Junior Alvarado, Shimmering Allure was settled near the rear of the eight-runner field as longshot Belle’s Blue Bell set the early pace. Still with several lengths to make up on the leaders entering the far turn, Shimmering Allure was tipped to the outside by Alvarado and began her closing run.
At the top of the stretch, Belle’s Blue Bell began to fade as Vino Rouge took the lead. Shimmering Allure was under a full head of steam out near the center of the course and overtook Vino Rouge with a sixteenth of a mile left to run. She then drew away late to win by three lengths.
Shimmering Allure was bred in Kentucky by Clifton Farm and is out of the Stakes-placed Wild Again mare, Shimmering Tale. Shimmering Allure is a half-sister to the Stakes-placed winners, Shimmering Dream, My Daughter’s Song and Colonel Ted.
Freshman sire Enticed is represented by 17 winners so far this year, including the Stakes-placed Tambo, Santa Anita maiden winner, Favoritism, and MSW winners Darkroom Sugar Treat, Ez Roll and Demar’s Legacy.
