Street Sense’s three-year-old colt, Shared Sense, took home another Derby win, this time in the one-and-one-eighth mile G3 Oklahoma Derby over the dirt at Remington Park on September 27th.
Entering the gate as the 9/5 favorite for trainer Brad Cox, Shared Sense settled comfortably mid-pack around the backstretch and was asked to make his bid along the final turn. Coming four wide into the straight, Shared Sense dug in to finish over a length clear of the rest of the field. He brings his career earnings to $447,745 and adds another Grade 3 win to his resume after annexing the G3 Indiana Derby July 8th.
A home-bred for Godolphin, Shared Sense is out of the Bernardini mare Collective, a full sister to G2 winner Penwith. His second dam Composure, a multiple G1 winner, has also produced G1 Stakes horses Centring and Tranquil Manner. Shared Sense is one of 22 Graded Stakes winners for Bernardini as a broodmare sire. Other notable successes from this year include Street Sense’s Maxfield and Nyquist’s G1 winner Gretzky the Great.
Shared Sense is one of four Graded Stakes-winning colts on dirt this year for Street Sense, along with McKinzie, Cazadero and Maxfield — no other stallion has more. Both McKinzie and Maxfield were G1 winners in 2019, giving their sire a total of 11 career high-level winners.
