Generous Tipper notched his first Stakes victory when he rallied from just off the pace to win the $150,000 Discovery Stakes on closing day of the Belmont at the Big A meet on Sunday, 3 November.
The three-year-old son of Street Sense, who entered the race off an allowance victory at Keeneland, provided his sire with the 100th Stakes winner of his career.
Confidently ridden by jockey Kendrick Carmouche, Generous Tipper settled in fourth as Batten Down and Tuscan Sky battled each other for the lead. That pair continued to lead the way into the far turn, but Generous Tipper was quickly closing in on the leaders. He then swept by the duo to take the lead at the quarter pole and then held off the late challenge from a re-rallying Tuscan Sky to win by three-quarters of a length.
Generous Tipper was bred in Kentucky by Jeff and Melissa Prunzik and is out of Stopshoppingdebbie, a multiple Stakes-winning mare by Curlin. Stopshoppingdebbie is out of the multiple Stakes winner, Taste the Passion, and is a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner, Shampoo.
Street Sense is the sire of 100 Stakes winners lifetime and has four Graded Stakes winners to his credit in 2024: First Mission (G2 Alysheba Stakes, G3 Essex H.), Never Explain (G3 Tampa Bay Stakes), La Cara (G3 Pocahontas) and Comparative (G3 Bayakoa S.).
Street Sense will stand the 2025 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $50,000, stands and nurses.
