Is Too took the lead at the half-mile marker and never looked back as she powered her way to a one-and-a-quarter-length victory in the Opelousas Stakes at Evangeline Downs 12 July.
It was the first Stakes win for the four-year-old Midshipman filly, who has hit the board in nine of fourteen career starts.
Breaking alertly under jockey Colby Hernandez, Is Too sat just off the leaders in third through the first quarter of the eight-furlong contest. As the field hit the half-mile marker Is Too took command and never looked back, eventually crossing the line an easy winner.
Is Too was bred in Louisiana by J. Adcock and Montgomery Equine Center. She is out of the Stakes-placed mare, Tensas Salt (Salt Lake), who is a half-sister to Multiple Stakes winner, Tensas Harbor (Private Vow).
Is Too becomes the 22nd Stakes winner for her sire, Midshipman. In addition to Is Too, Midshipman is the sire of 2019 Stakes winners Tweet, winner of the G1 Grande Premio Joao Cecilio Ferraz in Brazil; Old Shipman (G3 Grande Premio Presidente Augusto de Souza Queiroz in Brazil); Princess Warrior (Latonia Stakes), and Big Changes (Sunshine Millions Turf).
