Princess Warrior swept to the lead in the stretch on her way to an impressive victory in the G2 Mrs. Revere Stakes at Churchill Downs Nov. 23.
The mile-and-a-sixteenth turf contest marked the first Graded Stakes win for the three-year-old daughter of Midshipman, although she had finished third in both the G3 Pucker Up Stakes and G3 Gulfstream Park Oaks earlier this year.
After breaking alertly from the starting gate, Princess Warrior was settled in the middle of the field by jockey Brian Hernandez. As the field entered the far turn, Princess Warrior began her move, sweeping up to challenge the leaders while racing wide. Through the stretch to the finish line it was all Princess Warrior, as the filly easily put away rival Cool Beans to win by a half-length.
Bred in Kentucky by George M. Veloudis Jr., Princess Warrior is out of the Consolidator mare, Sessa, and hails from the female family of Champion Unbridled and G1 winner, Cahill Road.
In addition to Princess Warrior, Midshipman is represented in 2018 by G3 Fantasy Stakes heroine Sassy Sienna, three-time Stakes winner Big Changes, and Stakes winner In the Navy Now.
Midshipman will stand the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $8,500, stands and nurses.
