Lady Shipman cemented her reputation as the top turf sprinter in North America with a dominating two-and-one-quarter-length victory in The Very One Stakes at Pimlico Race Course.
The victory was the third in four starts this year for the four-year-old daughter of Midshipman, who improved her overall record to eleven wins in sixteen starts. All of Lady Shipman’s victories in 2016 have been in Stakes races.
Bred in Kentucky by owner Randall E. Lowe, Lady Shipman is out of Sumthingtotalkabt, a half-sister to Stakes winner Rules Of War and Graded Stakes-placed Nanogram. The filly's second dam is multiple Stakes winner Nannetta.
Among Midshipman’s other top runners are San Pedro Stakes winner Yiannis, Riskaverse Stakes winner Stormy Regatta, Woodbine Stakes winner Her Majesty's Flag, Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, and G2 Fountain of Youth Stakes-placed Frammento.
Midshipman is standing the 2016 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $8,500, stands and nurses.
