Sensational six for Midshipman
The winners keep coming for Midshipman. Two-year-old filly Wealthy Shipman became the newest for the sire September 1 with a hard-fought score in a Maiden Special Weight at Canterbury Park.
In the five-and-one-half-furlong race Wealthy Shipman stalked the pace from the outside in third. Turning for home she took aim on the lead and battled down the stretch to take the win in the final furlong.
Bred by Betz Thoroughbreds, Inc. & Patricia Ann Elia Trust, the filly is out of Stakes winner and G1-placed Wealthy, a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner Follow The Money, the granddam of Graded Stakes winner Daddy Nose Best.
A son of Unbridled's Song, Midshipman won the G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile and G1 Del Mar Futurity before earning Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old honors. His six winners include two-time winner and Stakes-placed Naval Command and two debut winners in Sunny Yellow and Her Majesty's Flag, among others.
