Foals from the first crop by Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup hero Street Sense averaged $287,500 on the first day of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company March Sale placing him at the top of not only the list of freshman sires represented at the sale but all sires in general.
Included was a colt consigned by Classic Bloodstock (Danzel Brendemuehl), agent, out of a G2-winning half-sister to Darley Stallion Rockport Harbor. The final bid of $380,000 was the second-highest offering of the session. Hip number 151, consigned by Jerry Bailey Sales Agency, agent, is a half-brother to G2 winner and G1-placed Star Dabbler and was knocked down for $195,000. The colts were purchased by Todd Pletcher, agent, and and Philip S. Serpe, agent, respectively.
Rockport Harbor, whose foals averaged nearly $157,000 at the Fasig-Tipton sale earlier this month, continued to distinguish himself at the second major two-year-old sale of the year with Hip number 32 bringing $160,000.
