Trulamo honest as they come in debut
It’s been a hot August for first-year sire Girolamo as he’s been represented by four winners already beginning with TDN Rising Star She’s All Ready on August 7th and ending (as of this writing) with Trulamo on August 19th.
Just like her three “half-siblings” before her, Trulamo was also making her first career start, going five furlongs at Delaware Park. In the early stages of the race, the two-year-old filly spotted the field at least five lengths, while racing in second last. As the field made their way to the final turn, she had to travel five wide, then came down the center of the stretch to ultimately finish under a hand ride the final eighth of a mile.
Bred by Candy Meadows, LLC, in New York, Trulamo is out of the G3-placed mare True and True. She is a half-sister to multiple Stakes winner Midtown Miss, dam of Stakes-placed Angel Of Mercy.
Girolamo’s second and third winners of the month were the filly Backwood Bay and the gelding Pagan, both winning in Maiden Special company at Saratoga. His first crop also includes Belmont maiden special weight winner and Stakes-placed Lucky Lurie. Winer of the G1 Vosburgh and G2 Jerome Handicap, Girolamo is by By A.P. Indy, and out of a full-sisters to the dams of G1 Kentucky Derby winner and successful young sire Super Saver and Bluegrass Cat. He also hails from the family of champion and leading sire Rhythm.
