Sweet victory for Taketheodds in Sugar Maple Stakes
Four-year-old Street Sense filly Taketheodds impressed as the newest Stakes winner for her sire April 18 in the Sugar Maple Stakes at Charles Town. In the seven-furlong race the filly settled towards the outside in fourth in good position. Entering the far turn the filly was traveling well, and into the stretch came on strong to chase down the leader and capture the win in the final stages.
A homebred for Robert T. Manfuso, Taketheodds is out of G2 Golden Rod Stakes winner and G1 Ashland Stakes-placed Belterra, who is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes winner Royal Haven.
Street Sense has been represented by a talented group of runners in 2015. They include two G1 winners, in Las Virgenes Stakes winner Callback and Randwick Guineas winner Hallowed Crown. Other Graded Stakes winners for the sire include his G1-winning daughters Sweet Reason and Aubby K, this year's G3 Mineshaft Handicap winner Street Babe, and G3 Delta Downs Jackpot winner Ocho Ocho Ocho.
