Kallos notched his third successive win and his third Black-Type victory when the talented son of Medaglia d’Oro raced away with the G3 R.N. Irwin Stakes over 1,100m at Morphettville in Adelaide on Saturday, 22 April.
Winner of the G2 Danehill Stakes in late 2021 and the Listed Bob Hoysted Handicap last month, both at Flemington, Kallos has reached a new level since the decision by Godolphin to geld the galloper.
Patiently ridden by Ben Melham, Kallos jumped from the outside barrier to travel in sixth spot to the home turn before he quickly joined the leaders and dashed clear to beat Mileva by 1.3 lengths.
Another Award was three-quarters of a length back in third place as the winner clocked 1min 3.53sec.
Victory took the four-year-old’s record to seven wins and three placings from 17 starts for prize money and bonuses totalling $676,040 under head trainer James Cummings.
Kallos, out of the Exceed And Excel (AUS) mare Calliope, covered by Pinatubo last September, is likely to target the G1 Goodwood Handicap at Morphettville on 20 May.
Kallos gave Medaglia d’Oro, who won eight races including three at G1 level and was placed seven times during his 17-start career, his seventh Stakes win worldwide in just the past eight weeks.
The Darley stallion has now had 1126 winners of 3430 races worth nearly A$245 million.
Medaglia d’Oro has sired 170 individual Stakes-race winners, with 26 at G1 level, of 362 Black-Type races.
