Slip The Cable showed no signs of rust as he took command right out of the gate and never looked back on his way to a scoring a three-and-a-half-length victory in the Confucius Say Stakes at Charles Town.
The five-year-old son of Midshipman, who captured the $500,000 WV Breeders’ Classic over this same course last year, improved his record to eight wins in 13 career starts.
Slip The Cable races as a homebred for Coleswood Farm Inc. He is out of Hard To Get, a winning daughter of Not For Love. Hard To Get is also the dam of the Stakes-placed Weekend Liberty, a four-year-old full-brother to Slip The Cable. Slip The Cable’s second dam is Petrouchka, winner of the G2 Mrs. Revere Stakes.
Midshipman is coming off a banner year in 2016, led by such standouts as G3 Royal North Stakes winner Lady Shipman; Dearest, winner of the G3 Sugar Swirl Stakes; and Red Lodge, winner of the Listed Colleen Stakes.
Midshipman is standing the 2017 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $8,500, stands and nurses.
