Consistent six-year-old Sense Of Occasion, a son of Street Sense, has resumed from a short spell with a fast-finishing victory in the G2 Villiers Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on December 17, the gelding’s biggest success so far.
Trained by Kris Lees and ridden by Victorian jockey Ben Melham, Sense Of Occasion charged home to defeat Dibayani (Shamardal) in the Villiers Stakes, his seventh win from 29 starts and third at Stakes level.
Bred by Shadwell Stud Australasia, Sense Of Occasion is out of Zabeel mare Saywaan, who is from the family of G1 winner Rewaaya. Sense Of Occasion is the sole stakes winner from five foals to race.
Street Sense is the sire of 47 Stakes winners, including such top performers as Callback, winner of the G1 Las Virgenes; Wedding Toast, winner of the G1 Ogden Phipps and G1 Beldame; and Street Fancy, winner of the G1 Starlet Stakes.
Sense Of Occasion is one of 47 individual stakes winners for Street Sense, who will stand the 2017 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $45,000, stands and nurses.
