In the Navy captured his second career Stakes victory with a strong performance in the Mr. Sulu Overnight Stakes going one mile on the turf at Fair Grounds on November 16.
The four-year-old gelding by Midshipman sat in second throughout most of the race before taking the lead in deep stretch and holding off a late charge to win by a length.
Bred in Louisiana by his owner, Kendel Standlee, In The Navy is out of Southern Princess, by Dixieland Band. In The Navy hails from the female family of Stakes winners Pleasantly Free, Dixie Pearl and Cornish Snow.
In addition to In The Navy, Midshipman is represented in 2018 by G3 Fantasy Stakes heroine Sassy Sienna, three-time Stakes winner Big Changes, and Stakes winner In the Navy Now.
Midshipman will stand the 2019 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $8,500, stands and nurses.
