Navratilova took the lead right out of the starting gate and never looked back as she cruised to a comfortable one-length victory in the G3 Rubicon Valley View Stakes at Keeneland on Friday, Oct. 29.
The Valley View was the first Graded Stakes win for the three-year-old Medaglia d’Oro filly, who relished the yielding condition of the turf course, as she scampered home the easiest of winners. It was the second Stakes win for Navratilova, who captured the Tepin Stakes at Churchill Downs in June.
Bred in Kentucky by her owner, G. Watts Humphrey Jr., Navratilova is out of the Multiple Graded Stakes winner, Centre Court (G1 Jenny Wiley, G2 Mrs. Revere Stakes, etc.). Centre Court is out of Let, winner of the G2 Churchill Downs Distaff, and is a half-sister to G3 winner Ravel.
In addition to Navratilova, Medaglia d’Oro has been represented around the globe in 2021 by Graded Stakes winners Golden Sixty (multiple G1 winner and two-time Horse of the Year in Hong Kong); Kallos and Yonkers, both G2 winners in Australia and Magny Cours, winner of the G3 Prix Perth at Saint-Cloud in France. In North America, Medaglia d’Oro’s Graded Stakes winners include Souper Escape (G3), Vigilantes Way (G3), Risk Taking (G3), Moonlight d’Oro (G3) and Beautiful Gift (G3).
