Meshtri held off a late bid from Walk Of Stars to earn a well-deserved victory in the Listed Dubai Creek Mile at Meydan Racecourse on Friday, 22 November.

It was the first Stakes win for the four-year-old gelded son of Medaglia d’Oro, who was making just his fourth career start.

A field of nine went to the post in the Dubai Creek Mile, which was the feature race of the Dubai Racing Carnival program. Most of the focus was on Walk Of Stars, the runner-up in last season’s G2 Godolphin Mile.

At the start it was Al Tariq that went to the lead, where he was quickly joined by a host of challengers, including Meshtri, who pressured the leader while racing in second. Meshtri assumed the lead before the half-mile marker, and tenaciously led the rest of the way, easily turning back the challenge from Walk Of Stars in the final furlong to win by three-quarters of a length.

Meshtri was bred in Kentucky by Candy Meadows LLC and is out of Clothes Fall Off, a Stakes-winning/multiple Graded Stakes-placed mare by Daaher. Clothes Fall Off is out of the Stakes-winning/Graded Stakes-placed mare, Tequilas Dayjur, and is a full sister to Graded Stakes-placed Strawberry Tequila and a half-sister to Stakes-placed One Last Shot.

Meshtri is one of several recent Stakes winners for his sire, Medaglia d’Oro, who is also represented by the exciting juveniles East Avenue, winner of the G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity, and Good Cheer, winner of the Listed Rags to Riches Stakes at Churchill Downs.

Medaglia d’Oro will stand the 2025 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $75,000, stands and nurses.
