Unbeaten in three starts, Lyric of Light, by Street Cry, won the G1 Fillies’ Mile Stakes on Friday, September 23, at Newmarket. The winner settled in the back of the pack and showed a tremendous turn of foot under a confident Frankie Dettori, providing a thrilling finish in the G1 event over a mile at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile racecourse. The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained filly also has won the G2 May Hill Stakes.
The Darley-bred and Godolphin-owned filly is out of the G1-placed mare Suez, a daughter of Green Desert that hails from the family of the prolific Reprocolor. Suez is currently in foal to another Darley stallion in Halling.
Just yesterday, Street Cry was also represented by his newest Stakes winner when his Limonar won the Listed Prix Coronation at Saint-Cloud.
With this win, Street Cry has now sired 13 G1 winners on dirt, turf and synthetic, at all ages, and different distances. Included among these are Horse of the Year Zenyatta, Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, and Australian Melbourne Cup winner Shocking. Street Cry stands in Kentucky and shuttles to Darley Australia where he is based at the moment.
