It all makes Sense at Keeneland

Two beautiful two-year-olds by Darley stallion Street Sense gave buyers something to be excited about at Keeneland’s April Sale of two-year-olds in training as evidenced by final bids of six figures each for the exciting second-year sire.

The first, a filly from the consignment of Niall Brennan Stables, agent, caught the eye of a number of potential buyers with James Maloney winning the bidding war at $300,000. The dark bay or brown is a half-sister to Stakes-placed Angel In Arms and out of a half-sister to six Stakes horses, including four stakes winners.

The second, a handsome colt consigned by Stephens Thoroughbreds, agent, is out of a half-sister to G3 winner Noble Causeway, with a catalog page that reflects a second dam that is a half-sister to Horse of the Year Ghostzapper and G1 winner City Zip.

No other second crop sire sold better than Street Sense and the last of the four major North American two-year-old sales. It shouldn’t come as a great surprise given the early success of other Darley stallion Street Cry. Street Sense is the sire of eight Stakes horses from his first crop to race, including Graded winners Castaway and Motor City in addition to G1 performer Miss Netta.

Street Sense currently stands at Darley America for $40,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
