G3 winner for Dubawi in New Zealand
The highly promising career of Dubawi juvenile Cellarmaster lifted another notch when the colt gave his connections the perfect start to the new year with victory in the G3 Eclipse Stakes over 1200m at Ellerslie.
Cellarmaster was his sire’s first southern hemisphere winner when scoring over 800m at Otaki on 12 November. After finishing runner-up on his next outing, the youngster bounced back to victory when stepping up to 1100m in the Listed Wentwood Grange Stakes on 12 December.
Bred by his owner Judge Clapham, Cellarmaster is out of Oenology (Sound Reason) and has now earned more than NZ$77,000 in prize-money.
Dubawi has made a tremendous start to his stud career in Europe where he was leading first-season sire by number of winners in 2009. His 34 individual scorers include the Group Two winners Poet’s Voice and Sand Vixen. The European leading first-season sire by prize-money was Dubawi’s fellow Darley resident Shamardal, whose Australian runners include G1 VRC Oaks winner Faint Perfume.
Darley’s American team has also been celebrating after Offlee Wild was named champion freshman sire in the US.
