Impressive Street Sense mare Dixie Blossoms flew home to win the G2 Guy Walter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on 25 February, claiming her second victory in Group company.
Jumping straight to the front, the Ron Quinton-trained mare controlled the pace, drawing clear in the straight to secure an impressive six-length victory ahead of fellow Darley-sired mare Zanbagh (Bernardini). This is the four-year-old’s fourth win from 12 starts.
Bred and raced by Alan Osburg, Dixie Blossoms is out of city-placed mare Whistle Dixie who has produced four winners from six foals to race, including Macau Listed winner Able Green (raced as Excel in Macau). Dixie Blossoms was Whistle Dixie’s final foal before being retired from stud duties in 2013.
Alongside G1 top performers Callback, Wedding Toast, and Street Fancy, Dixie Blossoms is one of 21 individual Group winners for her sire.
Street Sense will stand the 2017 season at Jonabell Farm for a fee of $45,000, stands and nurses.
