Frammento fantastic in Keeneland Maiden Special Weight
Two-year-old Midshipman colt Frammento took command in a Maiden Special Weight on opening weekend at Keeneland October 4 as the 10th winner for his freshman sire.
Stalking just off the pace in fourth in the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race, Frammento traveled wide rounding the far turn to challenge for the lead. Dueling in the stretch, the colt fought hard and came away a winner in just his second start.
Bred by Mr & Mrs Oliver S Tait, Frammento was a $260,000 two-year-old purchase at Fasig-Tipton. The colt is out of the Stakes-winning mare Ginger Bay.
Midshipman is already off to an exciting start at stud, with Listed Happy Ticket Stakes winner Naval Command, nine-length debut winner Batten Down Belle, and recent Woodbine winner Ensign Eli. He has also been represented by Stakes-placed runner Purple Heaven. A winner of the G1 Del Mar Futurity and G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, Midshipman was named Eclipse Champion Two-Year-Old.
