Cosmic Storm surges to Oaks victory
Not even a slow get away could prevent three-year-old Street Sense filly Cosmic Storm from becoming the 35th Stakes winner for her sire as she powered to an impressive victory in the Listed Belmont Oaks in Australia.
Rearing as the gates opened and losing many lengths, jockey Peter Hall urged Cosmic Storm towards rail where she stayed for the majority of the race before being pulled out wide to commence her run.
Needing to come around the heels of a wall of horses, the filly still found herself many lengths from the leader as the winning post loomed. Charging with determination, Cosmic Storm recorded her third career win from just six starts and looks a filly with a positive future.
Bred by Peters Investments Pty Ltd, Cosmic Storm is the first Stakes winner for her G3-winning dam Stormy Nova, from the family of Bernardini’s Stakes winner Solemn.
Represented by three individual G1 winners this year alone in Wedding Toast, Callback and Darley Australia first-season sire Hallowed Crown; Street Sense is the sire of 35 stakes winners.
