Cheers to Wedding Toast in G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes
There was plenty to celebrate June 6 as Street Sense's five-year-old daughter Wedding Toast blew away the likes of Untapable in the G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes on Belmont Day. Coming off an equally impressive win in the G2 Ruffian Stakes in May, Wedding Toast became the fifth G1 winner for sire Street Sense with the victory.
In the one-and-one-sixteenth-mile race Wedding Toast was sent out to take the early lead. Making the pace around the far turn, they began to challenge her, but Wedding Toast was full of run and only extended her advantage in the stretch to impress with the win.
The daughter of Street Sense is out of Golden Sheba, by Coronado's Quest, a half-sister to five-time G1 winner Congaree and Stakes winner and G1-placed Sangaree. Wedding Toast was bred in Kentucky by Darley.
Wedding Toast joins company with other G1 winners by Street Sense, who include this year's G1 Las Virgenes Stakes winner Callback and G1 Randwick Guineas winner Hallowed Crown, in addition to daughters Sweet Reason and Aubby K.
Street Sense stands for $35,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
