Singing in the Rain: Verity dances to victory in Keeneland’s G2 Beaumont Stakes

Three-year-old Nyquist filly proves much the best in her Stakes debut

Godolphin homebred Verity put away pacesetting Stunner at the top of the lane and drew clear to post an impressive five-and-a-quarter length victory in the G2 MiddleGround Capital Beaumont Stakes at Keeneland on Sunday, 6 April.

It was the first Graded Stakes win for the three-year-old Nyquist filly, who has won three straight races and three-of-four career starts. Verity became the second Graded Stakes winner of the weekend for her sire, joining Tenma, who captured the G2 Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita Oaks on Saturday.

Patiently ridden by jockey Vincent Cheminaud, Verity stalked the pace from second, just a length behind frontrunner, Stunner. Verity drew alongside to engage the leader at the top of the lane, then quickly took command and began to pull away, eventually crossing the wire an easy winner.

Beaten just a head in her career debut - which was her only previous start over conventional dirt – Verity broke her maiden over the all-weather surface at Turfway Park on 23 Jan. She then added a second tally over that same surface on 6 March.

Verity was bred in Kentucky and is out of the Stakes-winning Bernardini mare, Moiety, who was also placed in the G2 Barbara Fritchie Stakes. Verity’s second dam, Be Happy, was a Champion at ages two and three in Brazil, where she captured the G1 G.P. Margarida Polak Lara-Taca de Prata and G2 G.P. Joao Cecilio Ferraz.

Verity is the second Graded Stakes winner of the weekend for her sire, Nyquist, joining Tenma, who won the G2 Santa Anita Oaks. Nyquist is also represented by the undefeated older filly, Cavalieri, who has victories in the G1 Beholder Mile and G3 La Canada already this year. Not to be overlooked is Immersive, the undefeated Eclipse Award-winning Champion juvenile filly of 2024, who has yet to debut this season.

Nyquist is standing the 2025 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $175,000, stands and nurses.
