Street Story has the charm in Dixie Belle Stakes

Street Cry filly Street Story made her 2014 debut a winning one January 10 with a score in the Dixie Belle Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

In the six-furlong race the three-year-old filly settled off the pace in a mid-pack position. In the stretch Street Story split foes and kept on down the lane to prove a winner in the slop.

The filly broke her maiden at Churchill Downs in June and followed up with a second-place effort in the Letellier Memorial Stakes at Fair Grounds for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Street Story is out of the winning Tale Of The Cat mare Perfect Story, a half-sister to Horse Of the Year and Classic winner Point Given who is out of Broodmare Of The Year and Stakes winner Turko's Turn. Street Story is a half-sister to multiple Graded Stakes-placed colt Medjool and was bred by John C. Oxley.

A sire of talented runners, Street Cry has been represented by 15 winners at the highest level. Among these G1 winners are esteemed Horse Of The Year Zenyatta and two G1 Breeders' Cup Juvenile winners in New Year's Day and Street Sense. Street Sense, of course, went on to win the G1 Kentucky Derby and became the only horse to achieve this feat.

Street Cry's fee for the 2014 breeding season is $100,000 live foal, stands and nurses.
