It was a successful Saturday’s racing for two Darley stallions on March 22, with Stakes winners for both E Dubai and Cherokee Run.
Desert Code, from the hugely successful first crop of E Dubai, recorded his third Black type win and fifth career victory when landing the Joe Hernadez Stakes on the Santa Anita turf.
Settled in second position behind Tenga Cat, Desert Code mounted his challenge at the top of the stretch and taking the lead with around two furlongs left to run, moved clear to win the six-and-a-half furlong contest by two lengths.
Desert Code was bred by ClassicStar and is out of the Lost Code mare Chatta Code, who has produced a further three Black type performers.
Meanwhile at Turfway Park, Cherokee Run recorded a new Stakes winner when his three-year-old son Mitigation ran out the convincing winner of the six-furlong Hansel Stakes.
Breaking smartly, Mitigation was content to track the early pace before taking the lead coming round the turn. Powering down the stretch, Paul McGee’s charge soon put daylight between himself and his rivals and won by an easy three-and-a-quarter lengths.
Bred by Mace and Samantha Siegel and now running in the colors of Jay Em Ess Stable, Mitigation is out of the multiple Stakes winner and G2-placer Sophisticatedcielo and has now won on three consecutive occasions.
E Dubai and Cherokee Run stand at Darley America at fees of $15,000 and $40,000 respectively.
