Quiet American enjoyed a Listed winner on Saturday and Sunday when Star Guitar won at Delta Downs and Scolara obliged 24 hours later at Gulfstream Park. A Delta Downs Darley-sired double was completed when Warrior Maid, a daughter of Holy Bull, scored in the Listed Premier Night Starlet Stakes.
Star Guitar is no stranger to the winner’s circle. In fact, in seven races, the four-year-old colt has only been beaten once and still managed to finish in the money on that occasion. Saturday’s victory in the Premier Night Championship Stakes, was his third successive Stakes triumph, having won the Dixie Poker Ace Stakes on 3 January and the Louisiana Champions’ Day Sprint on 13 December. Star Guitar is raced by his breeder Brittlyn Stable Inc and is out of the Malagra mare Minit Towinit.
Scolara, also four, is another highly consistent performer for Quiet American. Her win in the Marion County Stakes at Gulfstream marked her third career victory. She was also runner-up in the American 1,000 Guineas at Arlington last season and third in the G2 Mrs Revere Stakes in November. She had been Stakes-placed on her three outings prior to Sunday’s win. Scolara also bears the colours of her breeder, the Haras Santa Maria de Araras, and is a daughter of the El Gran Senor mare Millie’s Delight.
Three-year-old Holy Bull filly Warrior Maid was making just her fourth start on Saturday and in so doing recorded her third win and first Stakes victory. The only time she has tasted defeat was when finishing runner-up on her second racecourse appearance in the Louisiana Champions’ Day Lassie Stakes. Out of Rejoice, by Marsaya, this promising distaffer is campaigned by breeder Russell Welch.
