Soneva, a three-year-old daughter of Cherokee Run, gained her second G3 win and second Black type success of the year when sweeping to victory in the one-mile G3 Prix Lieurey at Deauville on August 13.
Settled at the rear of the field, the Yves de Nicolay-trained filly quickened entering the home straight and flew past early leader Wilside to win comfortably by two lengths from Emergency.
A G3 winner as a juvenile, Soneva won the Listed Prix la Camargo back in March, en route to a creditable fifth in the French 1,000 Guineas. She is now likely to head to the G1 Prix du Moulin, due to take place at Longchamp next month.
Bred by Mineola Farm II Limited Partnership, D. R. Houchin, J. W. Hirshmann et al, Soneva is out of the Nureyev mare Lakabi who is a full sister to Stakes winner European Rose and is also dam of another multiple Stakes winner in Coronado Rose.
Cherokee Run has sired 12 Stakes performers so far this year, including fellow Black type winner Run It.
