Hard Spun's first southern hemisphere foal was born on 10 August when Salita foaled a bay filly, which is also her first offspring. The filly was bred by Amarina Ventures LLC, who have also welcomed another of Hard Spun's first foals in Australia, a bay colt out of the American-bred mare Lantern Court on 18 August. Lantern Court is a daughter of Group One winner Ms Eloise and a half-sister to Group Three winner Bibury Court.
Shadwell's Elusive Quality mare Nufoos produced her first foal, a chestnut filly on 20 August, while two days later Little Plains Stud welcomed a Hard Spun half-sister to the Group Three winner Dr Doute's out of their Stakes-placed mare No Limit.
Des Bourke is the proud owner/breeder of a well-related chestnut colt, born on 25 August and out of Nothing Less, the dam of last season's New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless. Our Milster, a daughter of Marooned owned by Peters Investment Pty Ltd, has also foaled a chestnut colt.
At Darley Australia, we've been thrilled with our own Hard Spun foals on the ground, which include a filly for Rompers (Grosvenor) and colts for Giverny (Peintre Celebre) and Carnegie's Group-placed daughter Alberghetti.
