Leading sire Medaglia d'Oro notched his 17th individual Stakes winner on May 1, when his four-year-old daughter Medaglia d’Amour took the G3 Wilshire Handicap.
Settled in second on the outside, the Ben Cecil-trained filly loomed up alongside early leader Czechers entering the stretch and moved clear close to the wire to record a length-and-a-quarter victory.
Bred by the Allen E Paulson Living Trust and now running in the colours of Kristina Cecil and Zillah Reddam, Medaglia d’Amour now boasts a perfect three from three race record. She is out of the winning mare Izara, dam of five winners to date.
Medaglia d’Oro, currently America’s leading third-crop sire by both earnings and number of Graded Stakes winners, has already sired seven Stakes winners this year, including the G1-winning duo Gabby’s Golden Gal and Warrior’s Reward.
