Content to track the leaders in fourth early in the one-mile event, the two-year-old filly Ambient, by Rockport Harbor, began to make her move at the top of the stretch and improved steadily down the lane to get up in the final strides to win at first asking on October 5.
Bred by her owner, Stone Farm, in Kentucky, Ambient is out of the Clever Trick mare Vickey’s Echo, she a full sister to Listed winner Victorious Answer and a half-sister to G2 winner Last Answer. Ambient, herself, is a half-sister to Listed winners French Braid, an earner of $607,685, and Donegal. She also has a yearling full brother by Rockport Harbor.
Rockport Harbor is the sire of seven other winners in 2010 include the highly-promising two-year-old Bear’s Future, winner of the Swynford Stakes at Woodbine in September, and slated to run in the G3 Grey Stakes at Woodbine on October 10th.
A winner of his first three starts by an amazing 22 1/2 Lengths, Rockport Harbor, won the G3 Nashua and repeated at nine furlongs in the G2 Remsen to sustain a perfect record throughout his two-year-old campaign.
