Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Moss have given a resounding endorsement to the strong appeal of Bernardini by announcing that their Horse of the Year Zenyatta will be making a trip to visit the son of A. P. Indy this breeding season.
Darley America’s President, Jimmy Bell, said “We are thrilled that Mr. and Mrs. Moss have chosen Bernardini as Zenyatta’s first mate. Having Zenyatta booked to Sheikh Mohammed’s homebred champion is extremely exciting. We truly appreciate their decision and look forward to seeing the resulting foal in the Spring of 2012.”
Bernardini, the runaway winner of the G1 Preakness, G1 Travers and G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup, is the only first-season sire ever to record G1 winners on dirt and turf, having been represented by Frizette Stakes winner A Z Warrior in America and Gran Criterium winner Biondetti in Europe. The classic winner is also sire of multiple G2 winner To Honor and Serve (Remsen and Nashua Stakes), plus G3 Prestige winner and G1-placed Theyskens' Theoryamong his16 winners.
Bernardini’s first foals are now 3-year-olds. His book is full for the 2011 season.
