Call it, “Like father, like daughter.” Just as Discreet Cat won his first start at two, so did his first-ever starter Son de America, on April 14 at Santa Anita. The two-year-old filly was quick out of the gate in the maiden sprint race, then gained the lead in the stretch to notch career win number one.
Bred by Dixiana Farm LLC, Son de America is the first foal out of the winning Street Cry mare, Elizabeth Street, who is out of Stakes-placed Affirmed Ambience, and is a half-sister to Stakes winner Affirmed and Ready. Collectively, Discreet Cat’s first crop includes the offspring of 87 Stakes horses/producers.
Discreet Cat was weighted equal with champion Bernardini at three, a year in which he equaled Easy Goer’s track record in winning the G1 Cigar Mile and defeated Horse of the Year Invasor in the UAE Derby.
Discreet Cat stands for US$17,500, live foal, stands and nurses.
