Having already sired 19 individual two-year-old winners so far this season, the Peter Snowden-trained Exceed And Excel gelding Bello took the tally to 20 on June 29, recording a short head victory over 1200m at Canterbury.
Having his second career start after a credible debut performance behind Commands filly Matignon, Bello was bred by Darley Australia and is out of the Seeking The Gold mare Cara Bella. A full-brother to the juvenile Stakes performer Giotto, Bello is out of a full-sister to the G1 performer Bowman, as well as the dam of international G1 winners Kirklees and Mastery.
Cara Bella has a Shamardal weanling and is currently in foal to Medaglia d'Oro, the sire of the recent G1 winners C. S. Silk and Plum Pretty.
Equalling his Champion sire Danehill for the number of juvenile winners recorded in a single season, Exceed And Excel is in a position to better that feat with just over four weeks remaining of the current racing season. Led by the dual G1-winning chestnut colt Helmet, no other sire has recorded more two-year-old Stakes wins this season than Exceed And Excel.
Standing the forthcoming season at Darley Kelvinside at a fee of $66,000 (inc GST), Exceed And Excel’s current book of yearlings and weanlings includes the progeny of G1-winning mares Allow, Carry On Cutie, Champagne, Ellicorsam, Grand Archway, Hasna, Hill Of Grace, Lashed, Lovelorn, Miss Andretti, Mnemosyne, One Under, Recurring, Rose Archway, Ruffles, Shame, Upsetthym, Virage de Fortune, Camarilla, Preserve, Rinky Dink and River Dove.
