Just a few hours after recording his first two-year-old winner in England, Any Given Saturday added another to the list as Saturday Launch soared to victory in a Maiden Special Weight at Ellis Park August 12.
Making his second start, the colt settled behind the pacesetters to start the one mile turf event. Into the stretch Saturday Launch took control towards the front and widened his margin to take the victory with ease.
Saturday Launch was bred in Kentucky by Bloodstock Holdings LLC. He is out of the Stakes-placed Cee's Tizzy mare Ardum Relaunch, who also has a weanling filly byDarley America stallion Discreet Cat.
A son of Distorted Humor, Any Given Saturday was among the best of his generation. His most notable win was the G1 Haskell Invitational, in which he defeated Curlin. He was also victorious in the G2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, G2 Dwyer Stakes, and G2 Brooklyn Handicap, among others. With his first runners hitting the track this year in the northern hemisphere, Any Given Saturday's first winner was Ittasal who broke her maiden at Kempton Park.
Standing the forthcoming season at Darley's Northwood Park for a fee of $13,750 (inc. GST), Any Given Saturday's first southern hemiphere-crop of juveniles are expected to make their race track debuts in the coming months.
