Last season’s dual G1-winning Elusive Quality colt Sepoy kicked off his three-year-old Spring campaign at Caulfield, Australia, on August 13.
Starting first-up in the Listed Vain Stakes over 1100m, the Peter Snowden-trained colt jumped away well from the gates before taking up his customary forward position.
As the field rounded the home turn, jockey Kerrin McEvoy gave the chestnut a little move reign and he pulled away from the field to score an authoritive two-and-a-half length victory over Golden Archer. The winner of six of his seven starts, all at Stakes level, the Sheikh Mohammed-owned colt has now earned in excess of AUS$2.9 million.
Bred by Darley Australia, Sepoy is out of a full-sister to the G1-winning Danehill mare Camarena, the dam of G1 winner Camarilla, also by Elusive Quality.
In 2010 Elusive Quality had more Stakes wins than any other US sire. He is the sire of some of the world's most outstanding racehorses, that include G1 winners Raven's Pass, Quality Road and Smarty Jones
