A wire-to-wire victory by Harbor Mist September 1 at Saratoga in the Listed Anne M. Clare Stakes represents the third two-year-old added-money winner for his sire Rockport Harbor who now leads all North American sires by number of juvenile stakes winners with three.
Quickest out of the gate, Harbor Mist pulled jockey Jose Lezcano to the lead, a position the preocious colt never relinquished en route to a wire-to-wire victory in the seven-furlong event, his second win in three career starts.
Bred by Saratoga Select Broodmares LLC in New York, Harbor Mist is out of Jaramar Miss, dam of 10 foals, all winners, including other Stakes winner Jaramar Rain. Jaramar Miss is out of G2 winner Special Warmth and is also from the family of 2011 G1 Pacific Classic winner Acclimation.
Rockport Harbor, by Unbridled’s Song, has sired a total of four juvenile Stakes performers from his second crop racing in 2011, including other Stakes winners Banner Bill and Harbingerofthings. Foals from his first crop include the multiple G3 winner May Day Rose.
