White Rocks broke on top and never looked back as she cruised to a one-and-a-quarter length victory in the $175,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes at Turfway Park on Friday, 21 February.
It was the second consecutive victory for the daughter of Frosted, who broke her maiden by a widening six lengths going the same mile last month. She was promoted from third to second in her debut over the same course and distance in December. The victory also earned White Rocks 20 points toward a start in the G1 Kentucky Oaks.
Breaking sharply from post 4, White Rocks was immediately sent to the front by jockey Victor Carrasco. Heading down the backstretch, White Rocks extended her lead to seven lengths over Just Ruthless, with Admit racing in third.
White Rocks continued to extend her lead through the far turn and into the stretch, where it became apparent that the only question would be who would finish second. Carrasco kept his filly busy through the lane, and she held sway at the end, crossing the wire one-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of Admit. Somethinabouther rallied to take third.
White Rocks was bred in Kentucky by Sandra Sexton and Silver Fern Farm. She is out of the Kitten’s Joy mare, Kitten’s Catch, a half-sister to Stakes winner, Curlin’s Catch (Curlin). Second dam is Canadian Champion two-year-old filly, Catch the Thrill, who hails from the prolific Sam-Son Farm female family of Champion Catch the Ring and Radiant Ring.
White Rocks is the 32nd Stakes winner for her sire, Frosted. In 2024, Frosted was represented by 11 individual Stakes winners which included the outstanding Post Time, a multiple Graded Stakes winner who concluded the year with a bang-up second in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. Frosted was also the sire of Frost Free (G3 Chick Lang Stakes), Frost At Dawn (G3 Nad Al Sheba Turf Sprint), Winterberry (Glorious Song Stakes), and Australian Graded Stakes winners Pisces and Bustling.
Frosted is standing the 2025 breeding season at Jonabell Farm for $15,000 stands and nurses.
