Randomized may have been facing older fillies and mares but it didn’t make a difference as she made short work of the race in a gate-to-wire victory in the G2 Beldame Stakes on Sunday, 8 October.
It was the third straight Stakes win for the three-year-old daughter of Nyquist, who notched her first Graded Stakes win in August when taking the G1 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga in similar wire-to-wire fashion.
Breaking alertly out of the gate, Randomized went immediately to the lead. Quickly settled into a comfortable stride, the bay filly led the way throughout, setting sensible splits while never being asked for much. She was briefly challenged at the three-eighths pole by longshot Riding Pretty, but she easily shook that rival off and spurted away and cruised home, winning by three-and-three-quarter lengths while being geared down.
Bred in Kentucky by Cove Springs, LLC, Randomized was a $420,000 purchase at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. She is the fourth foal out of the unraced Elusive Quality mare French Passport, a half-sister to G2 winners Smooth Air and Overdriven and to the dam of multiple G1 winner, Got Stormy. French Passport has a yearling filly by Frosted and a weanling filly by Maxfield.
Randomized continued the great year being had by her sire, Nyquist, who is also represented by Slow Down Andy, recent winner of the G1 Awesome Again Stakes at Santa Anita. Nyquist is also the sire of 2023 standouts Crimson Advocate, winner of the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot; New York Thunder, dominating winner of the G2 Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga, as well as Stakes winners Flying Connection, Xigera, Johannes and Hacking It Up.
